Y Swim has been based here at Central YMCA for more than 20 years. The main reason to join Y Swim is to keep fit and maintain or improve your swimming ability. Swimming with a group means that you work harder and make more progress -
which makes it a lot more fun.
We welcome new members, whether or not they have previously swum with a club, including fitness swimmers who do not want to take part in the competitions. However, people who cannot swim, or only swim the breaststroke, would need to
take lessons before joining us.
Our training sessions, held twice a week, are set by trained and qualified volunteer coaches.
Y Swim is organised for competitors as a Masters Swimming Club, affiliated to the London and Middlesex Amateur Swimming Associations. Competitions are a good way of setting yourself goals and tracking progress, but in Masters there’s
no money riding on the results! Masters just means adults, not experts, and covers both men and women. In addition, several of our members compete in triathlons.
PLEASE NOTE
It is advisable to wear goggles as the pool water is chlorinated. For some sessions we use pull floats, kick floats and/or fins. Fins are supplied but you are welcome to bring your own. Short varieties are the best for swim training.
There is no need to bring your own floats.
